Summer Budget Travel Tips from Gadling

Your TiVo could "update" old ads

tivologoPeter Rojas at Engadget informs that TiVo and Comcast have, as part of their recent "teaming up," may be inserting updated commercials into programs that you have recorded on your DVR but watch at a later date. One question, as brought up by Rojas, is whether TiVo could (or would, really) place an ad for Product X in place of an ad for Product Y, which is a competitor.

This could get hairy very quickly, especially if very specific advertisements start showing up on recordings. Not that it'd be wrong or right (or against any terms and condition) for TiVo to target consumers based on their viewing habits, but you can see the customer service lines light up the first time something looks fishy.
