Flying diesel engines and dancing chickens: ANDY's Best Ads of 2004

Honda wins for fuzzy bunniesANDY (The Advertising Club of New York) has announced the winners (via CNN) of the 2005 ANDY Awards. Hooray! The grand prize went to Honda for its psychedelic diesel engine commercial, aired only in the UK. Dancing bugs, dolphins, whistling swans—what does this ad not have? Even better, we finally get to see the word "HATE" spelled out in rainbow letters across a clear blue sky. If you're not navigating over there right now to see the ad, well, there's no hope for you or your sense of humor. This marks the second big award that this Honda ad has won.

Other winners include, in the magazine category, an ad displaying the inner contents of a beer-drinking-man's wallet, complete with photos of furry kittens and smiling grandmothers. Burger King won in the interactive category for it's "Subservient Chicken" website, wherein you can command a man in a chicken suit to do things. Like dance. Or "flap wings," which I tried and didn't work well at all.
