Despite reports that DVR use was "overblown", a new study from research firm In-Stat shows the number of households subscribing to a DVR service is up 155% from May, 2004. My one thought on the discrepency between the two numbers is that the ESPN study and the In-Stat report is that, since DVR functionality is being added onto other things (cable boxes, DVD recorders) it's the use of stand-alone DVRs that may be overblown. As the technology gets more integrated into other machines its use will rise based the "since it's there I'll use it" concept. DVR sales up
