"Start having a...great life." Stop singing that...damn song. If you've seen this ad, you know what I mean. Folks pass the keys to a Kia Sportage around, stranding themselves in the woods, at stoplights, parking lots, and cafes. I did a little research (okay, I just entered the song lyrics into Google) and came up with this. The song, called "Great Life," was written by a band/musician called Goat, and, get this! written to lift him out of depression. CityCynic seems to think it's catchy and uplifting, but uh, have you heard this song? (1) any song written after your mother commits suicide is bound to not have an "uplifting" quality, and (2) it's just bad. Rant over.Ads we hate: Kia Sportage

(Page 1)3. I could easily hate Kias. I just bought a used 2001 KIA Sportage 4x4. This after shopping for 3 years.I love the look, but it's been nothing but trouble! I have spent around a thousand dollars on it. And it still goes down the road like I'm hitting my brakes every few minutes. Talking about bucking, My KIA could teach a BRONC how to throw it's rider. I'm stll tryin' to figure out whats wrong.

4. Hey Guys. I'm not a KIA hater yet,(I'm getting close.), I've got this sporty-baby and she does pretty good most of the time. I'm just tryin' to work out the kinks. Her nickname is 4x4 from hell. I'm looking for a site that can help me with questions. Maybe I'm in the wrong place. Sorry... Ya'll have a good day. Bren.

5. Hi, Anthony from CityCynic.com here. In defense of my comments, I do think that the song is uplifting.
Its like a reminder: "Start having a great life / Start living with inspiration". If someone was depressed, that might jump start them back towards happiness, might it not?
At the same time, after hearing the song over and over again a million times, I'm getting tired of it, too. But that's just what happens when a song gets played out.
6. you guys are all just a bunch of little brats, if you tired of the song put it on mute, kia isnt the greatest advertiser but stop being such a hypocrit, the guys mother died and hes trying to tell everyone not to take life for granted because it could be over at any moment, and it was a optomistic song that you can easily avoid and you all need to shut up

9. Why didn't he tell his Mom to have a "great life"? Howcome he sold his "uplifting song" to a car manufacturer? Why is the dude with the guitar in the ad not climbing onto a bus?

1. Bren you could check out the guys at the Kia Sportage site they may be able to help.
What you have got to remember with the early Sportage is it's at least 20 years old in design. The latest model is developed in partnership with Hyundai and is a totally different ball game. I regularly speak to Kia dealers in the UK who's customers had no end of trouble with the old Sportages. Expectations of a car theses days are so much higher and the old Kia designs just couldn't live up to those.
You have to remember Kia almost went to the wall a few years back when all they had was the Kia Pride, which was an old Mazda 121 reject. Now Hyundai have injected some new life, and money, I think they deserve a closer look, especially with the models coming out now.
