Newspapers looking for PPC money

Quigo Technologies is partnering with the online components of several newspapers to offer customized pay-per-click advertising. The system, called AdSonar, essentially provides an alternative to PPC programs from Google and, recently, Yahoo. While not expected to take the place of traditional advertising on the news sites the ads can be a significant source of revenue as keywords are big on and prices go up based on demand. It also allows for greater local customization by the publishers of those ads. One of the biggest benefits for the newspapers is the control it gives them. Instead of being at the mercy of Google and accepting whatever they can from the AdSense program they now have  their own stake in the game, as they do with the rest of their advertising.
