The average age of people watching network television is going up across the board. The network with the youngest viewers is The WB, whose audience is a tad over 37 years old. The oldest-skewing network is CBS, where the median age is just shy of 52 years old. ABC's viewers average 46 years of age and NBC's are 49 years old.
I don't think this means more older people are watching these networks. Instead it's a case of fewer young people tuning in as they seek out video games, cable programming or appletinis. Whatever the case marketers need to pay attention to these numbers. What they might lose in the coveted 18-34 year old demographic they might make up in the increased income of those older folks.
