Two Chinese companies are being told to pay 300,000 yuan to Hennessy Cognac, a French company, for trademark infringement. Both Zhuhai Xiangmutong Trading Co and Xiamen Golden Huanya Food Co have been selling a faux French cognac under the name Hanlissy, which a court found to be close enough in pronunciation to "Hennessy" to be considered trademark infringement. The companies have also been asked to apologize in a local newspaper. I think the lesson here is not to go to China for your French cognac.
