Is now the time for Google News to get ads?

Seems like
there's always some speculation as to how and when Google News will begin running advertising. The latest round of that
has been kicked off by Rafat Ali at
PaidContent, who sees the recent dropping of the
"Beta" tag from GNews (how come that never caught on?) as the perfect time for Google to integate ads. After
all, it's been quite a while since News debuted and what would have been a big deal then probably wouldn't be now.
Competitors and other news aggregator sites have accepted ads since inception so it's not like Google would be breaking
new or controversial ground with this move. I agree with Rafat and, since Google's stock seems to be going through a bit
of a rough patch I'm sure investors would love to see Google News opened up as another revenue generator.
