Last night for the first time I caught the Pontiac/Google
commercial Chris
mentioned a few days ago. Chris seems to like the idea of the consumer being told to simply discover for
themselves, via Google, all they can about Pontiac. I mostly agree that it feels better than simply being told in a
slick advertisement what's so great about the autombile. However, the moment I saw the Google home page flash on my
television screen I thought, "What happens when say, a site like My Pontiac Sucks gains popularity and
becomes the first page that pops up when you type 'Pontiac' into Google?" I can't be the only person who has
thought about this. Nevertheless, if such an instance were to occur, I think I still like the idea of being told
to discover what I can about a company on my own terms. Well, and the terms of the two Pontiac-sponsored links at the
top of Google's search page.
Will Googling Pontiac really work?

1. It looks like Mazda has actually taken advantage of this. If you do a search for Pontiac in Google, you'll see an ad that appears to be affiliated with Mazda, comparing the solstice to the Miata!
