Back in October Chris mentioned that some upcoming
commercials for the Ford Fusion would begin appearing that would target the younger generation and their penchant for
portable music players. You can watch one of the ads via Seth Stevenson's
article on Slate, where he asks why it is the commercial features an iPod in the opening shot before a swarm of
fancy bubbles merge fly through the city and eventually "fuse" into a Ford Fusion. It's clearly an example of
Ford trying to piggyback on a popular item, but Stevenson points out that the vehicle has garnered enough positive
feedback that it could easily stand on its own without resorting to a commercial which appears to be for the iPod then
becomes something else entirely. He also points out, quite hilariously, that the Ford Fusion has no input for an iPod.iPod in a Ford commercial?
