SBXL: It's over, so whatcha got?
But what about you? Who were the winners and losers where you were?

(Page 1)2. Sprint was the big winner, along with $4 tube socks. Next time someone tries to take my wallet, I'm going to own them with my phone.
The Budweiser commercials weren't so great. 5 seconds into each of them I knew the punchline. The fridge one was funny... but predictable. Maybe I should have been more drunk.
3. The Sprint one was definatley the funniest, methinks. That was basically it for really funny ones, though. I thought the Diet Pepsi ones were kind of stupid, they all had basically the same premise.
And of course, Bud gets an honorable mention. "GUYS, QUICK! THE MAGIC FRIDGE IS BACK!"

4. Was it just me or did anyone else think maybe the DANCING WITH THE STARS promo was racier than the rejected GoDaddy.com ads?
I also thought the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES promo featuring the athletes, talking about the characters' plotlines missed the mark. Instead of enticing me to start watching the show, I felt like I was so far out of the loop, I couldn't possibly catch up.
The music video LOST promo missed as well. Cute idea, but put together by people who don't get the show.
The GRAY'S ANATOMY spots were great. Compelling. Made me watch the show for the first time.
On the commercial side, loved the sheep/streaker Clydesdales spot - but the winner is the Sprint theft deterrant system.

5. I'd have to say my favorite was the Mastercard MacGyver commercial, because I heart the show MacGyver. Although the Priceless theme is getting kind of old. Mastercard has been using it for several years now. Maybe it's time to retire it, before it gets REALLY old, like the Budweiser frogs.
6. Loved the Frontier spots. Great cap to a month-long storyline. I knew they'd let the dolphin go, but thought the sweepstakes was a great idea.

7. I just uploaded a special Across the Sound New Marketing Podcast focused on the Super Bowl, co-hosted by Kevin Dugan. It's at www.acrossthesound.net or iTunes.
I linked back to you of course :) JJ

9. I don't think I laughed harder than after the Ameriquest "Well, that killed him" spot.

10. Meh, I wasn't impressed for the most part. The Michelob Football Chick-Gets-Owned commercial was funny but original. I think the best commercial was the Bud Magic Fridge one, it had me cracking up.

11. There were a few outstanding ads this year - and a couple that should result in a fired ad agency.
The winners:
Disney - Showing the heroes of the day praticing their "I'm going to Disney World" was advertising gold. It did a nice job showing the WDW dream for kids of all ages.
Bud - The baby Clydesdale aspiring to pull the wagon was a touching spot cementing Bud's position as a hertiage brand.
MasterCard - MacGyver. Priceless. Nice job highlighting the use of MC for everyday purchases.
Runners-up: FedEx Cavean, ESPN Phone, Bud Wave, CareerBuilder Ass, SierraMist Security, Moto PEBL
Funny but ineffective:
Bud Light - The Fridge was a nice spot - for any beer company. I think people will remember the spot but not who made it.
Ameriquest - Ditto.
Sprint - Crime deterrent was laugh out loud funny.
Waste of ad budget:
I see an agency review in the future for several brands. Just because you spent a lot of money creating the ad, doesn't mean it's good.
- Gillette
- Aleve
- GoDaddy
- Nationwide
- Hummer
12. As I posted on BMA, my Top 5 were the Hummer spot, Clydesdale American Dream, MacGyver's MasterCard, Budweiser's Secret Fridge, and working with Jackasses at Career Builder.

13. What about Pizza Hut? I thought that the commericial that they ran with Ms. Piggy after all the Jessica commericals was hysterical!! Anyone else catch that?

1. The Ameriquest commercials were laugh out loud funny. I can't make up my mind which is funnier. Budwieser's Ad agency deserves a raise. They are always good - The wave - I thought was kinda cool , I was belly laughing at the Camping ad and the Streaker - The heartwarming Clysdales are one add I look forward to every year, so the Barn ad was not disappointing for those of us that anxiously await them every year!
