V For Vendetta is probably the movie I'm looking forward to the most this coming year. Not only because the story itself looks awesome but, of course, because Natalie Portman is in it. This Super Bowl spot differs from the previous trailers only in that it's not quite as overty slick as the previous entries. They were very much about the style of the movie and it's rain-soaked exteriors as well as the masked avenger who plays a pivitol role in the film.
This one is the first one that doesn't make the movie look like it was scrubbed clean by a fine chamois before it was shown but that doesn't mean any of the effectiveness is lost. It's still a striking spot but doesn't have quite the impact because it lacks some of the slo-mo photography and epic shots of the previous versions. The overall story is intact of Portman and that masked good guy rebelling against a totalitarian governement. That consistent focus on story is something that's missing from a lot of the other movie ads and it gives me a lot of hope about this movie overall. You can see the Super Bowl spot at Warner Bros.' official site for the movie.
