It's one of those things you're not supposed to laugh at, but it's really hard to
help yourself. It seems that Comcast customers in the Bay Area got a not-so-nice surprise yesterday morning when an ad
for an adult pay-per-view show aired during an episode of Nickelodeon's Fairly Odd Parents. Parents, rightly
enough, were not happy. There was no nudity in the ad, but, according to one parent, "they were in lingerie, and
just rubbing." Another parent went as far to say such images "can destroy the children." Yeah, that
might be overreacting just a little bit. Obviously someone dropped the ball here, but let's not turn it into the end of
all humankind as we know it. However, if twenty years from now any of these kids are in therapy because they saw
scantily-clad women for thirty seconds when they were younger, I'll take back what I said.
Comcast airs adult ad during kid's cartoon

(Page 2)22. I have found alot of commercials that do not belong on a kids channel. I have seen on Nickalodeon all the fast food ads and I have seen coffee commercials and I have also seen adult content like underware commercial for adults. There are many channels to put these ads on that we do not want to see them on a kids channel. They put on the channel it is safe for kids and when I put the " channel exempt " for my child I am thinking it is safe. Do not think this is safe because cable puts what they want where they want. My son was watching the cartoo channel there was a movie on it ACE VENTURA. That is not a cartoon. cable please watch what and where you put your ads.

23. Getting your hackles up about this is kinda like griping about a a fart in a windstorm. This is the least of our worries, folks. After all, kids are playing "Tag, you're it" on playgrounds all across America, and this must be stopped!!! Seriously, I saw a story on the news today that a principal in Spokane, WA has banned "Tag, you're it" on the school playground because it victimizes children. I am surprised daily that my generation survived to adulthood.

24. Well i personally think that if the parents make a big deal out of it, the kids will see that and know its something big. They will then asks questions about it. The kids nowadays know so much more then we did. I am not very old myself, but have a 7 and an 8 year old. They see girls in bikinis in the summer, and girls in tanks, and short shorts in the spring. They do see some vicotrias secret ads on tv(when i was watching something)when they came to ask me a question, i did not respond, they asked thier question and left. To all the parents that think this is soooo bad, you need to realize, your kids learn more from school, then they do watching, or just cathcing a glimpse of these grown up ads...

25. Reading all of your comments, I can't help but agree with all of you. A family channel IS a family channel.
With that in mind, Our family channels should hold family content!! I don't believe that suing would be a proper answer as much as everyone banning together to let our provider (such as comcast) know it needs to stop. When a parents child aproaches with such questions like the meaning of viagra, Thats a sign to parents like ourselfs to say "Its gone far enough!"

26. I THINK THIS IS TERRIBLE. I TRUSTED THE DISNEY AND NICKELODEON CHANNELS AND NOW MY TRUST IS GONE. I BELIEVE EVERYTHING OUR CHILDREN SEE, EVEN IF ONLY A SECOND SUGGESTIVE ADULT AD IS VERY WRONG. HOW DARE THEM! I WILL NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING OF THEIRS FOR QUITE SOME TIME....LET THEIR SALES GO WAY DOWN, MAYBE THEN, THEY WON'T HAVE THESE LAPSES IN DECENCY!

27. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!MY TRUST IN THEM IS GONE!!!I WILL NOT BUY ANY OF THEIR ITEMS, MAYBE IF THEIR SALES GO DOWN THEY WILL REALIZE PARENTS WON'T PUT UP WITH SUCH DIRT!

28. If you are so worried about what your children are seeing on these channels then don't let your child watch them. Simple really.
I think that if you watch a lot of so-called children's tv then there are a lot more insidious messages that would worry me more than a couple rubbing each other. There is rampant consumerism on children's tv from toys to junk food. Hard sell advertising is turning children into demanding undiscerning consumers. The dialog in children's shows is often rude and disrespectful and its not surprising that our children are becoming increasingly discourteous and disrespectful of adults. I think we would do more good by addressing these issues.

29. Let the kids watch Noggin and Sprout. No commercials, no problem.

30. Sex is a commodity not an expression of love between two married adults. Its for sale everywhere you look and used to sell everything from pizza to popcorn. We are becoming a sex worshipping society. Since when did sex on tv become the norm? What separates us from the animals now, we are willing to pay for it? So much for honor and respect. The only woman in my house that needs to be in her underwear at anytime is me. We dress up our little girls in suggestive clothing and wonder why they are being molested. We tell them they are pricesses and then wonder why they won't get an education and jobs. We teach them its acceptable to show anyone whos interested your body for a price or a wink. Self worth is not determined by breast size. Get all the trash off tv. Stop brainwashing everyone into thinking that behavior should be the norm instead of the worst of what we have to offer our kids.

31. I cna't believe so many people are making a big deal out of the human body. So what if youngsters see a little human flesh. While I agree it is not appropriate for those ads to be run on childrens networks, an ad or two isn't going to damage your children. Instead, you should make it a learning opportunity and not make the body seen as taboo or dirty. It's all how the parents react to the ads that will determine what affect it has on the children.

32. When young kids see adults on a commercial they don't even bother watching it. If anything, I get annoyed when they air commercials promoting religious cd's from cult bands... And the poster that talked about her 14 year old mental ill teenager, I would suggest you go download Pink's "Stupid Girl" video - Pink sends a powerful message to young girls, she literally nails Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson & Nicole Ritchie, along with the Olsen Twins or 1 of em at least.

33. Here is a solution for all of you complaining that children are overly exposed and their innocence is taken too early....disconnect your television, throw out the computer, and home school them. Then you will be responsible to watch them 24/7. You will be the one who is responsible for YOUR own child's innocence. If you don't like what you are paying for then don't pay. Don't control or try to control EVERYTHING for EVERYONE. That is the problem with America today. Oh by the way, by disconnecting the television and taking the video games away that would mean you have to actually "WATCH" your children.

34. BLAH BLAH BLAH.....If you want your children to remain innocent until they reach school age, lock up the TV,newspapers, magazines, radios and maybe even some of your old photographs you've been secretly saving.

37. Today to many Americans try to protect our children from everything. While we are so busy fighting for them, who is watching them? The US has some of the strictest nudity laws in the world, has this helped our children? America also has one of the highest teen rape, teen pregnancy and teen STD increases in the world (other than third world countries). We cry because we see a glimsp of Janet Jackson, yet we fight for the right to breast feed in public. Yes much of television is innapropiate for children, thats why I spend time with mine instead of putting them in front of it. The worst part is this was on cable and we say there is nothing we can do, how about cutting off service? If enough of us protest by not subscribing the cable company will get the message.

38. I thought this type of thing was purely by accident. A few weeks ago (Feb. 1st) an ad for the horror flick Tamara was aired between Blues Clues and Dora. My 2 and 3 year old were stunned. I thought we had sat on the remote or something. We have enough trouble getting them to bed we certainly don't need images of walking dead and violence to help aid their imaginations. I contacted NickJr. and viewer services did respond saying that they were looking into it but now it appears as if it is Comcast that has no scruples airing all sorts of material that has no business on a kids station.

39. You can certainly tell the comments from people who do not have children. Really, the logic that they are going to see it sooner or later, so what's the big deal. The big deal is most parents want it to be later - much later. We know we can't raise our children in a vacuum, but we expect age appropriate material on a children's network. It's also insulting to compare children possibly seeing their own parent nude to a commercial for pornography.

40. If you want your child to remain innocent to such "visuals" till they attend school, I suggest locking away the TV,newspapers, magazines, radios and even perhaps the old photos you secretly have been saving from your old "fun days".

21. So we think that a 2 year old is going to understand what is seen or said on TV? Have you ever tried to get a 2 year old to listen to anything? They don't listen. One parent saw it and now every parent said that they saw it. How many of your kids have TV's in their rooms? You are not monitoring what your kids are watching. If you were you would have the kids watch the TV in the family room and be a family!!!
