For me, putting gas in my car was always the perfect time to
simply stand around and do nothing. I would stare off into space, lean against my car, and pretty much just let my mind
go blank. Those few moments waiting for my tank to fill were perfect for giving my mind a rest. NBC Universal apparently
doesn't share my love of not always stimulating my brain, because they've added video screens to gas pumps in Los
Angeles, which show three-minute video of local news, sports, and entertainment. Tropicana and State Farm have already
signed on as advertisers for the new venture, which will eventually spread to other cities in California and the rest
of the country (provided it's in a market with a local station owned and operated by NBC). I wonder if
State Farm's involvement would include reminding people of the danger of not paying attention to what they're
doing when they're pumping gas. Advertisers sign on to gas pump videos
