Lexus has teamed up with Slate to sponsor a series of "textcasts," which will display the day's news on one's video iPod. The "textcast" is downloaded as a silent audio file. A person can then use the scroll wheel to cycle through the text and read it, though some early users claim this is a bit arduous. The Lexus logo is displayed next to the text, much like album artwork is sometimes displayed while a song is playing. I like the idea of trying to expand this popular device for new uses, but I'm not sure scrolling through text on a tiny screen will gain much popularity. Right now the "Today's Papers" is the only section getting the textcast treatment, but others may follow.Slate and Lexus bring text to your iPod
