Microsoft adds contextual email ads

As part of a Beta test of its new Windows Live Email, Microsoft is
delivering contextual ads alongside email messages. In addition to serving up display ads alongside the email message, a system called Active Search will also suggest searches to the viewer based on the keywords in the message. If the email does not trigger any keywords then no search suggestions or ads will be displayed. That's an interesting way to facilitate usage of Microsoft's search system by giving them an easy one-click option that keeps them within the company's proprietary systems. I wonder how much market share they're going to claim of the search field based on this? Anyway, ads will appear throughout a user's time in this and other Windows Live services that are served up through its AdCenter system.
