Ahh, the notion of a good book and good wine. Add a little candlelight, some potpourri...I may be close to crossing a line there so I'm going to stop.HarperCollins is trying to encourage people to read more and think the audience to start with is that of wine sophisticates and snobby drunks. The publisher is promoting two of its books through a deal with wine maker Sutter Home. Neck hangers will be put around bottles of Sutter Home wine that include a $2 off coupon for a book or magazine. In-store displays will include not only the wine but the titles the publisher is promoting, two books by author Elizabeth Noble. The books must be purchased at the same time as the wine to get the discount. This is actually a good promotion since it does appeal to someone just passing by the wine section who might also be looking for a new book to read. There will also be a sweepstakes where entrants can win a trip for their reading group to the Sutter Home Victorian Inn in Napa Valley, California.
