As you might have read, popular video sharing site YouTube has officially added what it's calling "Brand Channels" as a way for brands to be organized by...ummm...channels on the site. They also recently debuted video ads on the front page. The move is getting a lot of press today largely because the video ad on the site right now is for Paris Hilton's debut CD. The system has been tested for about a week already though, with trailers for the movies Pulse and Crank showing up on the right-hand side of the screen. The Hilton CD ad is also being sponsored by the Fox TV show "Prison Break," making that a double-ad-dip on that piece of real estate. We're slowly seeing ads creep into more and more YouTube functionality. Personally I'm alright with that. As long as it doesn't impede the usability of the site it shouldn't be a problem. Something's gotta pay for all the server space they're burning through. You can see some of the screen grabs I, you know, grabbed of the movie trailers on the site after the jump.
