A month after saying it would stick with the campaign, DaimlerChrysler has announced it will be suspending the Dr. Z ad campaign featuring company chairman Dieter Zetsche. While the company says Dr. Z will be back at some point in the future, it prefers at this time to highlight its zero-percent finance offer. I'm shocked - shocked I tell you - that they thought a spokesperson who seemed to be a German-accented version of the Monopoly Guy would distract people from some other message they were trying to communicate. Just shocked.Dr. Z now Dr. Ditched

(Page 1)2. I hate to see him canceled. He was more believeable that a lot of actors that are trying to sell a product. I was impressed that a person of his rank would get down and dirty with the rest of us mortals.

7. I actually LIKED the ads. Dr Z was the Lee Iococca of today. I can remember all of the Dr Z ads ("performance", "safe" and "clean"), but NOTHING of the regular car ads because the other car ads all sound alike. Remember the sound that Charlie Brown's parents made..."WAAA WAA WAAA WAA" It was cool that the actual CEO was doing commercials.

11. I could never understand why the Germans would have wanted to remind us in commercials that Chrysler is now a German company. Don't they want us to continue to believe that Chrysler is still one of the "big three" U.S. car companies?

13. Please bring Dr "Z" Back! He is much better for information commercials than anything that Helliwood could produce. Of course I'm of German decent like Dr Z and I live in Knoxville, Tennessee. auld lang syne.

14. It amazes me that companies think Americans would rather buy from someone with a foreign accent rather than buying American. Buy foriegn and you support them buy here and you put an American to work. Enough of our jobs / money have gone overseas.

18. Good! This guy was so annoying! I still have that annoying "Dear Dr. Z" bit going through my head. Now I am free to watch TV w/out fear of that commercial coming on.

19. It was a stupid add only because there was this guy talking about Dodge cars with a German accent, and no one (unless you did some homework) knew why he was there. Maybe if they stated who he was or that Chrysler had acquired Mercedes and that the German workmanship would be integrated into Dodge vehicles. Instead there were just commercials with a guy with a mustache and a German accent talking about Dodge, how f'ing lame!

20. He looks like he spends the greater part of his day figuring out ways to pass gas without anyone knowing.
