A month after saying it would stick with the campaign, DaimlerChrysler has announced it will be suspending the Dr. Z ad campaign featuring company chairman Dieter Zetsche. While the company says Dr. Z will be back at some point in the future, it prefers at this time to highlight its zero-percent finance offer. I'm shocked - shocked I tell you - that they thought a spokesperson who seemed to be a German-accented version of the Monopoly Guy would distract people from some other message they were trying to communicate. Just shocked.Dr. Z now Dr. Ditched

23. I am glad that he is GONE! The AD BLITZ they had was just a little too much. RADIO and Television were FLOODED with His hard to understand Strong Accent! The Chrysler cars are the easiest for THIEVES to steal! I have NEVER liked their style or engineering. Bye Bye Dr. "Z"!

24. After living thru WWII and spending a year in Germany in the army, with the holocaust still in my memory, I found the use of a German to sell US products to the US, while bragging of German engineering, offensive. I remember their use of slave labor that may have included some of my relatives.

25. Thank goodness he's gone. I hope he stays away. I reached for the mute button everytime he came on. Seems like I was using the mute all the time. Very annoying!!! Don't bring him back!

26. thank you !!! I also would grab the remote and click it off the minute I saw those commercials starting. To be fair, I absolutely HATE all car commercials -- they are all awful.
But, hey, I love the Geico gecko.

29. Just do not fall behind in you payment to the company.
They make you life a living hell. They even harrass those who have never purchased their automobile.

30. he couldn't be more obnoxious than that stupid Geico "icon".
We need a gecko with an accent??? This is an icon that some bozo thought we liked (and we did) but went overboard and added a stupid accent to him and way too much air time.
Free fish and chips?? what the heck does that mean to an American? Some bloke? when did you last call someone a bloke?
Just stupid.

31. I have owned Chrysler products my entire driving life
and I'm no spring chicken!! Dr. Z. appealed to me
even though he is a foreigner. Our American Chrysler
made the decision to merge, so why keep blaming the
"other guy" for what we did?? Dr. Z. has the grandpa
image and a man of wisdom. Hope to see him again!

32. Dr. Z is definitely in the wrong business. His character, German accent and mustache-faced along with that twinkle in his eyes are quite an attraction and should be used in any kind of ad he wants to do, be it for Daimler Chrysler, Harley Davidson, Art Van Furniture, etc., if you get my drift. I was amazed to find out how many women I've talked to really love this man, as do I. Forget all about that bull mentioned above and look at him as a major DRAW to anything you would like sell. Even the kids love him.
P.S. My best to all of you for your interests expressed. That's the gift of being an American.

33. I didn't know until now that the Z guy's the company chairman. Given the ads he was in, he came across as some awful hack trying to sell something that nobody really wanted. Those commercials simply prompted the viewer to either change the channel or simply shut the television off.

34. Who knew this guy was the CEO of DaimlerChrysler? Not me! I thought it was just some dude pretending to be an intellectual. I'm glad it's done. It was annoying as hell.

35. DR.Z WAS NOT THAT BAD.....THE COMMERCIALS WE NEED TO GET RID OF IS THE MAN ON THE FOUR EYES COMMERCIAL. I LIKE IT WHEN THE LADY HITS HIM WITH A CANE. HE DESERVES IT. GET RID OF THE FOUR EYES MAN. DON'T MAKE US LOOK STUPID...AND DON'T MAKE FUN OF US AMERICANS EITHER.

36. Obviously, the advertising people did not acquaint a (their) car commercial with world war II. (But, then, it doesn't take very much.) The wondrous power of an accent!

37. I think they are crazy!! Dr. Z's commercials were the first car advertizements that I have bothered to watch in a long long time. Looking at car's driving around is boring! A personality is a plus all around.

38. Now if only CBS will do the same with Ms. Couric. Why pay such huge money to see the news read. Let's have Ms. Piggy do it instead; better legs.

39. #13 IF THE GERMANS WERE SO GREAT WITH BUILDING AND INVENTING HOW COME THEY LOST THE WAR, BIG TIME AND WERE LED BY A PAINTER.

40. I like Dr. Z. Let him promote the zero percent finance offer instead of taking him off of the air.

21. GOOD, now if we can get rid of rub on rub off commercial we can watch TV adds without the need to grab the controller when a commercial starts
