It's just a pencil, what am I missing?

It's been awhile, Jacob, but it's about that time again. That's right, it's time to play everyone's favorite game, "Tell Adam What the Hell is Going On With This Ad." It's an ad for colored pencils, Faber-Castell colored pencils to be precise, but is there some deeper meaning to just showing one pencil against a white background, or are they just going for a kind of minimalist approach? Is there an optical illusion I'm missing? I guess the ad works inasmuch as it's pretty clear what the product is, since there's only the product and nothing else, but this seems like the kind of thing they'd do with a more recognizable brand. Unless Faber-Castell is so wildly popular they don't need anything else.
