Please tell the avatars to be quiet

I have to agree with Dave Winer. When Technorati, the usually useful (and usually slow) blog search engine puts up the ads with the talking avatars the service becomes almost too annoying to use. The ads are for SitePal, a service that creates the talking characters for you to put on your site to "enrich the user experience." They wouldn't be so bad if they didn't start talking immediately after loading, thereby interrupting whatever music you might have had playing at the time other things you might be doing. Yeah, they're fun to play around with for a little while but that's about it and they actually distract from the experience when they're auto-play ads. Argh.
