Nike, EA Sports and General Motors are among the companies who have gotten more than their money back by signing Tiger Woods to endorsement deals. The golf superstar has helped not only create whole new divisions but spur sales of the products he endorses by significant margins.- Ad rates for Howard Stern's show on Sirius Satellite Radio are significantly lower than they were when he was on terrestrial radio. He used to command $30,000 for a "live read," where he read the spot himself on the air. Now that is fetching just $10,000. The main problem seems to be that accurate ratings numbers for his show - and all others on the station - are impossible to measure so advertisers don't know how to value their buys.
- The advertising industry has hired a PR agency to help improve its image. I think I may have to take a moment and enjoy the meta.

(Page 1)2. This is an amazing game of "lets get the facts wrong". In an industry that cries for accuracy in ratings, it looks as if the accuracy factor vanishes when it comes to printing "news".
It also seems that the Ad industry has forgotten about how Cable TV came to be the force that it is today. Give me a subscription viewer / listener vs. a passive free media set of eyeballs any day. Thats what you want to buy, someone that is commited to a choice.
If Stern has 4.5 Million subs and decides to sell his spots for $10, who cares? If he gets to 10 million subs and still wants to sell his spots for $10, what does it matter? The rate is irrelevant, its a red herring. His show is designed to carry minimal spots, compared to the 22 units an hour he did at CBS. Its about subs first, and spot rates last.
The sattelite industry is giving censored radio fits, and its not the fault of sattelite radio. Local radio has become so watered down and pre-formatted that the few personalities left in the business are being programmed into mediocrity with no visible or audible edge to attract and keep new listeners. Local radio caved in to the FCC and rafts of cheezy radio consultants and lost their game in the past 10 years.
Note to radio companies: Call Sattelite and see if you cant get Sirius or XM to carry your local stations. You may have to pay a few bucks, but you'd be more relevant.

1. When you put this type of crap out on the web you need to tell us what evidense supports it. Who provided this information and what are thier motive? Did they provide you whih documents? Where does the subscription of the listeners fit into this? How does the rate that Stern get on his show compare to other rates on satelite radio. As everyone knows rates are connected to listeners and of course he doesn't have as many yet. When the satelite subscriptions get to 10 million(before he leaves) will you then admit this is crap!! If you answer all of these questions then you have a story.
