  • If you've been thinking Wal-Mart's latest corporate-image makeover looks and feels a lot like a political campaign, it's because the retailer's public affairs division is now headed by Leslie Dach, a former Democratic party strategist. It's also part of an overall shift by Wal-Mart to separate merchandise marketing from corporate reputation marketing.
  • Hewlett-Packard has taken time out from appearing before investigative committees in Washington, DC to buy Voodoo PC, a maker of what I guess could be called underground PCs. The purchase is meant to give HP an in with the gamers and other high-intensity users who are constantly using the latest, fastest tool.
  • Fox and Showtime have joined the ranks of networks who will be streaming their shows online. Fox is using both its affiliates sites as well as MySpace to give people a choice of what to watch and Showtime has partnered with Yahoo TV for their lineup. The Fox shows, of course, will appear with ads.
