I almost didn't post about the new commercial for the Rozerem sleep aid drug because I felt absolutely dirty about the fact I thought a commercial from a pharmaceutical company was actually funny and clever. Usually, these commercials show random images of people doing things that have nothing to do with the drug while a voiceover tells you all the horrible side effects that can occur if you ingest it. The Rozerem commercial is different though, showing a man who has finally fallen asleep and conversing with Abraham Lincoln and a beaver in a dream. When I first saw the spot, I thought it had something to do with the month of February because that's when we celebrate Lincoln's birthday and Groundhog Day is in February, also. (Page 1)2. I had no idea what this commercial was about, and I've seen it dozens of times. All the commercials about medicines have all those side effects, why would anyone want to take any of these medicines? Most of the time the side effects are worse than the problem.
Give me a commercial that makes me laugh, and I'll definately remember the product!

4. I stop what I'm doing whenever the ad comes on and watch from start to finish. It isn't just the kitchen conversation; I like the mood and flow of the scenes. Since I'm not an insomniac, I don't relate to the spot on that level. I've been trying to save a copy since accidentally erasing what I had. This site is a great help. I did think the beaver was a woodchuck.

7. Love the commercial but what's with the person in the deep sea diver costume that is shown in the background on some scene's, not all?

8. It seems to me that the deep sea diver is only there to indicate how deep down we are. He had to dive deep, deep down through the various levels of sleep to reach this guy and his dream. I don't know about the rest of you, but for me, falling asleep does feel something like sinking slowly through deep, dark waters, so I think the image works.

11. I love it too but what is eating at me is who is playing ABE, I KNOW I ahve see him in other things. I know that face and voice but can't place him. It is driving me nuts.

13. The beaver says, "He Cheats!" Unfortunately, the actor doesn't annuniciate very well, but if you play it over and over again, it's very clear this is what he says about Lincoln's Chess playing!!!

15. I liked the TV commercial. Seeing a 4 page magazine ad with the same characters but different scenes and copy really did it for me. Loved the beaver page where he is standing in front of you with a bouquet of flowers.

16. Like Sam, #15, I've seen the ads in several magazines. The actor and the beaver are now at their chess board in an upscale A-frame cabin, rather than a breakfast table.
Like Christa, #11, I would like to know that actor's name. WHO IS PLAYING HONEST ABE?

17. Did anybody notice that the chess board is set up wrong? The white king's rook should be sitting on a white square not a black one.

I did notice how the board was set-up incorrectly and I sent an e-mail msg to pr@tpna.com Did you also send the company an e-mail? I don't see the commercial playing as often as it used to, also. In fact, I saw a new commercial playing this past weekend.

19. I love this add too and came here trying to find the names of the actors. But I think the synopsis above is not quite right. i think that the protagonist is not sleeping and when he goes to the kitchen to get a snack in the middle of the night he finds the characters that should be populating his dreams hanging out, killing time until he falls asleep.

20. The actor playing Honest Abe in the Rozerem commerical is Ted Rooney. I used to work with his cousin and we discussed Ted's career alot. He also played Sherlock Holmes in a CSI episode along with a steady gig in The Gilmore Girls.
