A man is raising money to buy a 30-second spot during the Super Bowl to propose to his girlfriend

I kid you not. This guy is blogging to get donations so he can buy a 30-second spot during the 2007 Super Bowl that he intends to use to propose to his girlfriend.

While this might seem like the craziest idea ever (it just might be) I think it would be a great opportunity for either the NFL or some other enterprising marketer. Since the focus this year seems to be on letting people create ads for companies to use during the game why not take advantage of what this guy is doing? I'm not saying that a company should rush in and seize control of his quest, far from it. But if on December 1st he's short by X dollars, why not swoop in and say "We'll pick up the rest of the price as well as provide a studio for you to film it in"? That makes the company doing so seem innovative, altruistic and kind of romantic.
