22. I agree with 12 and 17 peanutbutter crunch so who cares if he sounded drunk the kids at that time thought he was funny. Lets pick on a fool like "Bush".rr1981

23. I Love Captain Crunch, Sea Dog and that other guy! The article was really funny, too. Thanks so much for showing us some of our childhood history. Give us more!
I think the Cap'n actually sounds like a drunk Jimmy Stuart(I like him,)too.
You folks who are getting all worked up...relax and have a bowl.

25. I once knew a guy who drove his boat while drunk. We called him Cap'n Crunch. For the TV ad character to sound 4 sheets to the wind is quite appropriate

26. take a chill pill #11 and especially #18 ('GetReal'). adam finley didn't say anything about the commerical being inappropriate for kids. he wasn't putting a negative spin on the ol' captain at all, not in my opinion. all he did was make an observation: that he sounds drunk- whether good or bad, he didn't specify, he just stated the sauced bit...which triggered your tangent. and on a side note i don't think he sounds drunk necessarily..with that vibrato in his voice maybe a pill or dopehead... but whateva....

27. I have to say that Get real is sooo right. People do NOT let kids be kids and it is mkaing the kids turn out MUCH worse that ever thought, There is nothing wrong with the voice of the Capt., Geez, this commercial is to temp a little kid into e ating it, not a judgemental adult. And for anyone who thinks the Capt is HOT and wants to have sex with him must be sick and probably a HO who does everyone and everything. Get a life and wash your rotten crotch so you do not infest our Capt.

29. It didn't sound like the writer was critizing the Cap'n. It was more like he was making an observation, one that's not to be taken so seriously. There wasn't anything in there actually saying the Cap'n's going to turn kids into alcholics. He actually does sound a little drunk but I have to agree, he's probably drunk off rum rather than vodka.

30. I love The Cereal and The Cap'n. He was fun to listen to and I enjoy his commercials.Like Mel Blanc doing the voices for Warner Bros cartoons, Daws Butler was the Voice for Hanna Barbera Cartoons . I miss them both and no one can duplicate those amazing Character Voices the way they did them. Do you all remember Sugar bear? Now He was hot.....

34. The voice of the pirate is Paul Frees. Paul was also Toucan Sam, The Pillsbury Doughboy, Professor Ludwig Von Drake, Boris Badenoff and many other cartoon voices of that era.
If you think about the voice of Yogi Bear and Cap'n Crunch you will hear the similarities yet I have never heard anyone accuse Yogi of being a drunk bear in Jellystone Park.

35. Hey Don,
Maybe Shelly's life is complete if she fucks a cartoon Captain. Let her have her fantasy, and go back to your farm animals.

39. He is an amicable fellow, prone to lose a few crunchberries to the crunchberry beast. It is definetly vodka, because the cereal tastes awful in rum.

40. His name and various histories were always printed on the cereal box in addition to a puzzle or game of some kind - come on - has it been THAT long since you read the cereal box ???? As I recall, he is Horatio Megellan Crunch. I think some of the old freebies even had his initials on his hat - HMC - and the ship!!! The Guppy!
