The new ParentDish: helping raise kids of all ages

Goodbye Mac guy

Justin LongTitle this The Long Goodbye.

Apple has decided to get rid of Justin Long, the younger guy who portrays the "Mac" in the TV and print ads. Many people have said that even though they like Macs, they actually like (and identify with) the "PC" guy played by writer and Daily Show reporter John Hodgman. And this isn't just a rumor: according to Radar, a spokesman for Long confirms that he will not be in any future ads, only ads that he has already filmed.

Hodgman will continue in the ads, but I wonder what angle they'll take now? The entire campaign is based upon the fact that a human being symbolizes either a Mac or a PC, and now the guy portraying the Mac is gone. If Hodgman has no one to play off of, he might just seem lost the sad, lost PC. Hey, maybe they'll make HIM the new Mac guy, and show how a PC guy can become a Mac guy?
