Boat maker takes campaign out of the water

This is one of those rare cases where I can see the actual ad being as funny as the pitch must have been.

North Carolina-based boat maker Triumph and their ad agency The Republik created a video showing one of their boats being pulled down the highway, through the woods and over dry land in general by a pick-up truck. Not towed on a carrier, mind you, just dragged. The videos are supposed to prove Triumph's claim of making "The World's Toughest Boats." The company hopes that the video will prove so unique it will take on a viral life of its own, which is already kind of has by generating tens of thousands of views even before they started promoting it. Other videos on the site show Triumph boats getting abused in a variety of ways. There will be print and TV ads that will be run as part of the campaign as well.

Later Update: I was remiss in my linkage. I did watch the ads, which you can view for yourself here. But, as Steve Hall notes in the comments below, the URL listed in the story seems to be "parked" by GoDaddy, meaning there's no "there" there. Thanks to Steve for keeping my honest.
