Yahoo lets branding reign on minisites

Yahoo has taken the unusual move of attempting to do some branding and advertising on behalf of companies and their properties. And the kicker is that they're not charging marketers for the effort. The online giant is creating what it's calling "brand universes" and their first one is for the Nintendo Wii gaming console. If the Wii site is any indication, future sites will include message boards, a collection of Flickr images tagged with relevant terms and links to third-party blog posts that come through via Del.icio.us and MyWeb. Yahoo plans on creating 100 such sites and it will be interesting to see what future sites look like.

It would be nice to have an RSS feed for the site, though. I'd love to be able to subscribe to certain sites and get updates whenever they occur. That's just me, though.
