Hey, I wouldn't exactly call rap "high art" either...(public enemy being the lone exception) But certainly you can't be referring to 80's music as "the greatest ever". PLEASE tell me you're not referring to the 80's...that decade of over-synthesized, over-reverbed noise. The late 70's sucked even worse.
Go back to mid 60-mid 70's...You'll find some good grooves there.

21. I remember sitting in a restaurant with a bunch of friends and this dude walks in who looked like the guys on the commercial, and right on cue, one of my friends yelled, "hey man, is that freedom rock?". I still laugh today.
