Listening to ads makes 411 service free

If you're willing you listen to anywhere between five and 40 seconds worth of ads you can now get free 411 telephone directory service from AT&T, provided you live in one of the three test cities. By launching this service, the company becomes the first large telecom firms to enter the ad-supported 411 market. The model AT&T is adopting serves up a maximum of four ads of anywhere between five and ten seconds in length before getting on with your 411 agenda. If I'm reading this right, though, it seems like the advertiser has the ultimate say as to whether you can be auto-connected to the number you're trying to find. If the advertiser has not included "call completion" as part of their package you'll have to hang up and dial the number manually. While that's not a huge deal, it is an inconvenience that AT&T might have eliminated in order to make this a more user-friendly experience.
