I defy you to outsmooch me

I'm not a very competitive person, but then, no one has ever challenged me to a kissing contest before. I, however, challenge people to kissing contests all the time. You know, traffic cops, people standing behind me in the checkout lane, and etc. Anyway, Stimoral Gum has a viral called Kiss Off where you can challenge your friends to see who the best kisser is. Unfortunately, none of this involves actual kissing, which is kind of a letdown. Besides, everyone likes there smooches different. Some like-a the tongue action, others prefer-a more lip service. Eh, it's still a fun idea.

Running Scared online game not for kids

It's pretty much a given that a studio will create a Web site to help promote a movie. If the studio truly understands the power of the internet, it will also provide some kind of entertainment on the site, such as a game. That's pretty much what happened with the new movie Running Scared. The only difference is that this online game involves going on a shooting spree and performing cunnilingus on a woman. This has shocked and appalled many people, though I could have sworn I once played a game of Ms. Pac Man which featured these exact same acts. Somebody told me it was probably just a dream I had. That would explain why at the time I was twelve foot tall Abraham Lincoln. Of course, we all know how this song and dance goes, as we've seen it play out numerous times. A controversial game is created, people get upset, more buzz is created, the site gets more hits, and more people see the movie. Lather, rinse, repeat.

Oh yeah, and if you want to check the game out, don't bother. It's been taken down.

Gap, CP+B take it all off

gapwatchmechangeThe Wall Street Journal's  Amy Merrick writes today about the Gap's latest marketing effort, watchmechange.com. Created by (surprise!) Crispin Porter + Bogusky, the site features the opportunity to create a character (male or female), and allowing you to strip down just a bit, before changing up inside a fitting room into some new Gap gear. Maybe it's just me, but I have that "they're trying too hard" feeling in this situation. Now I can only speak for myself, but this was one of the slower running things I've used of late. At least CP+B didn't go the whole route of taking on the characteristics of every single "dress up" on newgrounds.com.

As for the WSJ's item, grafs three and four kind of make me feel strange - describing the campaign as "unusual" and stating that the retailer isn't advertising the site is kind of obvious, isn't it? Merrick would have been better served by explaining the concept of viral to her readers, if she didn't feel that they would understand the concept on its own merit, rather than sort of pigeonhole it towards how the Gap / CP+B had put forth this concept.

Wanna be in a movie...trailer?

trailercrashersOver at sister site Cinematical, Peter Sciretta has the details about the fun way in which the folks behind the upcoming movie Wedding Crashers have opened up the trailer to the film in a new site, "Trailer Crashers." The interactive site allows for you to upload a picture of yourself or you and a friend, and you are instantly added, via Flash, to the film's trailer.

You can replace any of the following: Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Christopher Walken, Rachel McAdams, or Isla Fisher. And the best part, through some super secret technology that automatically finds the head of the subject in the photo, you can place just about anyone into the trailer.

You know you want to do this. I did, and posted the results after the jump. Oh, yeah - it's sponsored by Budweiser, so no under 21 year olds viewing my trailer!

So much for plumber's crack

kingthongEveryone can relate to hiring people to work on your house that end up to be completely disastrous, or at least worrying about getting stuck in that situation. DoneRight, a contractor listing company, takes advantage of that fear with their latest viral spot, King Thong. The name says it all, truly.

Animax is the firm behind the animation.
